This year the Polish National Alliance Educational Department awarded $200,000 towards education of its young members.
There were 327 applications for the PNA Scholarship 2014/2015 submitted. The Ad-Hoc Committee (Vice President Teresa Abick (Chair), Barbara Wesolowski, Barbara Sullivan and Agnieszka Kaminski) met in early May of this year to review the applications and determine the amount of the Scholarship based on a point system. They took under considerations membership, student’s GPA community involvement etc... Letters to all recipients were sent at the end of May.
The Educational Department is very proud to be able to offer this benefit to our PNA College bound members. At each convention approximately one million dollars is approved for the next 4 years for scholarships.
The program began in 1973 with two (2) application submitted, in 1974 six (6) applications, and in 1975 with eleven (11). To this date it has grown to receive as much as 550 applicants a year.
In the last 10 years over 4,000 applicants received scholarships for a total amount of $2,150,000.00.
The Polish National Alliance is very proud that so many members aspire towards higher education and is committed to help them through its Scholarship Program, Tuition Rewards and Graduate Scholarships.
We wish each recipient and applicant continued success and hope to hear about them as of future leaders of the Polish Community in the United States.
Applications for 2015/16 will be available on the PNA website after January 1st 2015.
