Story & photos by Bogumila Hejna
Submitted by: Jerzy Hejna, Commissioner of District XII

On Wednesday, September 11th, Commissioner Jerzy Hejna, with help of PNA Treasurer Marian Grabowski, Lodge 1824 member Stanley Krawczyk and Lodge 1824 Secretary Bogumila Hejna held the 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at Village Green Golf Course in Woodridge, Illinois. This year, the event grew from 8 to 12 teams, an increase in attendance of 50 percent. With Father Greg Wojcik from Sacred Heart Parish in Palos Hills as a player and spiritual leader, we had perfect golf weather. A prayer and minute of silence was observed for victims of 9/11 as well as for the fallen heroes who have lost their lives protecting our freedom. We also had a great number of guests attending dinner including PNA Lady Vice President Teresa Abick, PNA Vice President Paul Odrobina and his wife Janice, National Secretary Charles Komosa who took pictures and kept players in good "spirits", District XII Commissioner Barbara Wesolowski, and District XIII Commissioner Wanda Juda as well as past Vice President Stanley Jedrzejec.

A big thank you goes to our sponsors: PNA, Polish Slavic Federal Credit Union with Mr. Zbigniew Rogalski and Mrs. Jolanta Wisnicki. Also thank you to Mr. Brian Vallow with Morgan Stanley for their support. Other great sponsors were: Mr. Kris Krystinak and Podhale Golf and Mr. Zyggy Sularski, thank you. Our gratitude also goes to three teams of players from Central Steel and Wire Company.

A big appreciation goes to Stanley Krawczyk and his wife, to Mr. Walter Cygan for providing us with a large number of raffle prizes and to the many other business owners who contributed and made our raffle very successful and fun.

Special thanks to Mrs. Bogumila Hejna, also a sponsor as Century 21 Affiliated Realtor/Broker, for investing time in preparations for the event, providing raffle prizes and helping during the tournament and running raffle along with Commissioner Barbara Wesolowski.

We have already reserved the date for next year’s tournament -- September 10, 2014. Please save the date and join us for a great time!
