Tree Lighting Ceremony 2023

Christmas Cheer Is Here at the PNA!

For the 14th time, the Edgebrook-Sauganash Chamber of Commerce organized the annual community tree lighting ceremony at the Polish National Alliance on November 20, 2023. This beautiful tradition brings holiday cheer to the local area as the Polish National Alliance building and grounds turn into a magnificent Christmas wonderland with the colorful displays of lights.

Once the sun set, onlookers gathered at the PNA, eagerly anticipating the illumination of the Christmas displays, including special guest Miś Wojtek, a mascot dressed as the famous Polish brown bear soldier during World War II. President Frank Spula of the PNA extended a warm welcome to the crowd and shared reflections on the significance of the tradition in bringing joy to the community. President Spula then introduced Edgebrook-Saugash Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kathy Fern. ESCC President-elect Jay Smith and Alderwoman of Chicago’s 39th Ward Samantha Nugent also offered remarks. Afterwards, Alderwoman Nugent had the honor of pressing the button to officially light the PNA grounds. The crowd burst into holiday cheer as they admired the dazzling lights around them.

Later on, Dziennik Związkowy invited spectators to indulge in cookies and hot chocolate, fostering a festive atmosphere as everyone came together to sing Christmas carols.

Overall, another successful Tree Lighting Ceremony is in the books! The PNA extends an open invitation to everyone to experience the enchantment of Christmas by witnessing the light displays for themselves.
